SE Regional Championships

With over 150 students competing at the SE ‘STOMP’ Championships from across Region 1, Chand Institute of TKD, Poole TKD, UTA and Sidhu Taekwon-Do Academies, the arena was buzzing with an air of excitement.
After a short Umpires meeting, staff were assigned to rings and we were ready to get the days under-way. Up first were our Generation-X students (4-7yrs). With support from our events team and cheers of encouragement from the stands, each competitor stepped onto the mat with confidence and determination to do their best. As always, it was a pleasure for the Instructors to watch their youngest members step outside their comfort zone, challenge themselves and achieve far beyond all our expectations… A positive sign for the competitive future of Region 1 and UKITF.
Once the Generation-X had finished competing, it was the turn of our juniors (13-17yrs) to showcase all their talent and hard work. With Generation-X eagerly watching on, our black belts were called up to compete. With many of the categories boasting National and International medallists, I feel all spectators would agree the events were a treat to watch.
Next to follow were our Junior Kup divisions. Motivated from watching the Black belts perform, it was inspiring to see our upcoming teens giving 100%, taking every result with humility and showing respect for their fellow competitors.
Following a short lunch break for our umpires and event staff, it was time for the cadets (8-12yrs) to compete. As the arena began to fill with students and supporters, everyone could feel the anticipation circling the room, nervous and excited for what was to come. With umpires back to their rings, we were ready to go. Throughout the afternoon we were treated a nail-biting display of Taekwon-Do sparring and Pattern’s performed with confidence, focus and precision. This once again highlighted the vast amount of talent progressing through the ranks of Region 1.
As always, we would like to thank the Competitors, Instructors, Umpires and Supporters who gave up their day to come together and make the event a great success. We hope you enjoyed the day as much as we did and look forward to seeing you at the next big event.
