The South East Regional Championships

The South East Regional Championships was once again a big hit with the kids, boasting over 170 competitors from 12 clubs. After a prompt set up and ring allocation, we were ready to begin. Up first and participating in the Generation-X divisions were our 4-7 year old''''s. With each ring being led by one of our most senior members we were in for an exciting, fair and encouraging start to the competition.

After a very inspiring display of patterns from all who took part, were ready to begin padding up and preparing for sparring. As always, our young competitors showed true determination and confidence stepping onto the mat and sparring to the best of their ability to earn a place on the podium.
Concluding the morning events were our junior Kup and black belts. With many of the competitors participating at the UK ITF ‘Finals Day’ on March 23rd, this was an ideal chance to polish their skills and perfect their ring craft. Wowing the crowd with precise patterns and sharp sparring tactics it became clear very quickly the high-calibre of talent developing within the Region.

After a short lunch break the room began to fill with our 8-12 year old students, all eager and excited to begin. With three rings running throughout the day, the spectators were treated to a nail-biting display of competitive Taekwon-Do, once again highlighting the vast amount of talent progressing through the ranks of Region 1.As we have come to expect from our students, each competitor gave 100 percent and were a true pleasure to watch. As we progressed from white belts through the grades it was encouraging to see their competition experience shining through, shedding light on the importance and positive impact these Regional events have on the development of our competitors.

As always, we would like to thank all the Competitors, Instructors, Umpires and Supporters who come together to make this event a success. We would also like to extend our thanks and appreciation to Chand Institute of Taekwon-Do, Fishponds TKD Academy, Hogan’s Institute, Welwyn TKD and STA for travelling from outside of the Region to support this UK ITF event.
