UTA REGIONAL STOMP

27th NOVEMBER 2011

HITCHIN

On Sunday the 27th November the UTA region held its first Stomp under 13yrs competition with 80 competitors spread over three categories, Generation X, Kids kickers, and Cadets.

After setting up the Hitchin dojang it was time for the Generation X to take to the floor, showing their skills over a 30 second duration. It was great to see their initiative and the great skill they have developed at such an early age. Many talented Tkd players for the future after all 32 competitors had gone through their routines we had a clear winner but needed to find second and third. The two Generation X competitors came back on the floor and did a great performance with just one point in it.

As the Generation X section was ahead of time some of the HSTS squad conducted a small demonstration for the younger ones to watch.

The next category to take to the floor was the Kids kickers, starting with yellow/green belt patterns. Once again seeing some fantastic patterns players with such a great future ahead of them.  We then moved on to blue/red/black belt patterns. The kids kickers then prepared for the sparring starting with the yellow/green light weight moving on to Yellow/Green heavy weight, also showing great skill but utmost control with their techniques so enjoying themselves through the whole event.

Finally it came to the Cadets, once again starting with yellow/green belt patterns then moving on through to blue/red/black belt patterns. This was a great opportunity for some of the Cadets as this was the first tournament they have entered into as Cadets from Kids kickers using it as a stepping stone to the national tournaments. We then continued onto the sparring, yellow/green and then blue/red/black.

This event was a great success down to the help of the young officials all Junior competitors themselves gaining experience throughout the day on the other side of the fence. Also it wouldn’t have been as successful without the help of the parents supplying refreshments throughout the afternoon. But most of all the competition was fantastic to watch and see such talent at an early age and we look forward to the future when these children progress through to junior and then adult.

Thank you to everyone involved.
